Ten on Ten: March | Personal Photos

I’m participating in a blog circle with several other woman photographers this year, in which we post ten photos on the tenth of each month. These ten photos are meant to tell the story of a day.

My ten this month were taken on Saturday, March 8th. This was our first full day with our new (long term rental) car, so we could explore more of Singapore with (and without) the kids.

First, we spent the morning relaxing at home, and watched some Mickey.

And here’s that car. Our first station wagon.

We drove over to the Singapore Flyer, one of the most tourist-trap locations in the entire city, but something we hadn’t managed to do together pre-car. Ben and Elodie scrambled around within the little cab as we went around the big wheel and saw the city. It was a bit hazy, so I don’t have any ‘wow’ photos from the top, but we’re all glad that we checked that box.

Afterwards, we walked down to the youth olympic field and Helix Bridge to take a look at the bay, but got way too hot and returned home.

At home, we had nap time, and Elodie read some of her favorite books (she loves this one, Meg and Mog).

That evening, after the kids had dinner, my husband and I went back out to the Marina Bay area to finally see it together at night. We ate dinner at a restaurant in the top level of a building just off the water, so we had a great view of the resort. It was a delicious (and swanky) meal. The only unfortunate thing about the evening was the haze — Indonesia has already started its annual burning, so the past few days have been smoky.

Ten on Ten: February | Personal Photos

I’m participating in a blog circle with several other woman photographers this year, in which we post ten photos on the tenth of each month. These ten photos are meant to tell the story of a day.

My ten this month were taken on January 31st, Chinese New Year. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

We had another low-key day off, as we’ve only just moved into our new apartment in the last two days. The building(s) in these photos are all our new apartment building — after lounging around in the morning, we took a long walk around the complex and played on two of the playgrounds. We came back for naptime and snacks (Elodie napped with a rock she picked up, which was her little precious for the day), and then took another walk to a nearby park, called HortPark. The park had lots of different and vibrant plants, and then there were some great kids’ play areas, too — I can tell that we will visit there often. We came home, ate dinner, and ended the day with the kids watching Elodie’s favorite movie, Monsters Inc.

Little Lynlee | Houston Newborn Photographer

I was so happy to meet this little girl after meeting the rest of her family back in July.  Her mom put together such a cute little setup to incorporate her toddler son in the session, and it turned out adorably.  Of course, we got plenty of other beautiful shots of Lynlee on her own, and some photos of her in her nursery with her parents.  She was a little bit restless at 10 days old but so very sweet, and I can already tell she and her big brother are going to have a special relationship!

Petting Zoo for the Big 2 | Houston Event Photographer

This guy’s second birthday party was such a blast!  His parents did such an outstanding job planning this party, from the petting zoo and horse rides, to the snacks, barbecue, and favors.  Everyone had a great time, especially the cute little birthday boy.  He ran from one animal to the next with a handful of hay, and had a great time seeing his friends!  It was a perfect morning, and I’m so glad I was able to help capture it!

I know I’ve been pretty behind in blogging and I am going to get caught up this month for sure!  Things have been busy around here and they will continue to be through November!  Stay tuned for some cute newborn photos, maternity photos, and of course family photos coming to the blog soon!

The H Family | Houston Family Photographer

This is one of my favorite families — we’ve always been able to relate well with each other with our toddlers going through the same hilarious and exhausting personality developments — but I have to say, this was a tough session.  Not because of toddler craziness or even the heat, but the mosquitoes were completely, completely out of control.  Definitely the worst weekend we had all summer for mosquitoes, and the grassy Montrose-area park we had our session in was swarming with them.  This was in early August, and I still have the marks from the 30+ bites that I got (and that’s with bug spray).  One of the disadvantages of being the one behind the camera… no hands to swat away bugs!  Regardless, this family did a great job of brushing it off, and we got some adorable photos of their family of 3, plus baby on the way.

Thanks for looking!  I am booked for full sessions through the end of the year but there is still time to book a mini session on October 12th, details found here.
